To end The Summer Reading Program at the Library, they had a picnic at Memory Park. The boys got 4 free books each, I won a cup from Studio 89 and we ate hot dogs, chips and drank soda provided by the Library.
There was also live entertainment! Before we were able to eat, everyone had to dance. Diego danced with Arianna Hoskins.
After the park we went to the theater and saw UP. The boys really enjoyed it, but it was a bit sad. Then we went to Walmart and did some school shopping. Diego is going through a Spider Man thing right now so everything had to be Spider Man. Walmart didn't have any Spider Man back packs, but there were some smaller solid color ones for $5. The size is perfect for Diego and Kindergartners don't have much to put in them anyways. So, then I went on over to the fabrics and got 1/4 yard of some Spider Man fabric. Some fusible interfacing later and VOILA!! Diego has a one of a kind Spider Man Back Pack. I'm also going to put a pocket on the side for his water bottle.
This program was a lot of fun because the kids all got to play along with all kinds a different instruments.
Well, maybe if there was an ugliest lumpiest pie category. Good thing it's looks didn't affect the way it tastes. :)
I would say it was more like interpretive dance and it's a good thing it didn't last the whole hour because the kids lost interest after about ten minutes. They did have fun making masks after the show.
Yummiest soup ever (tomato base with noodles, chicken and cilantro) with queso fresco (fesh cheese) quesadillas.
These are not brownies, they are dirty blondies. Which, by the way, I do not recommend google-ing for a recipe. Hee hee. I also put mini Reese's Pieces in them. Super yummy.

And these are the Library bags I made for the boys. The pocket on the front is for their Library cards and has Velcro so they won't fall out. Fun, huh?
This year the Town of Chino Valley had a party in the park for the fourth. They tried to make up for the fact that they didn't have fire works. It wasn't much of a party, pretty boring actually. But at least they did something for the few people who did go. The boys rode around in a barrel train and jumped in a jumping castle. Mario is going through a John Deere faze and was very excited to see some. As we were leaving he noticed a mug and calender set sitting on a table where they were have different games and asked the Town guys what it was for. They said that it was a prize for one of the games but since he was such a big John Deere fan and sang the John Deere song for them, he could have it.
Now this show was fun, for the boys anyways. I don't think the doves and rabbit that were part of the show enjoyed it much.Although we did not go last year. 
And we of course we always end up going on a day when there is a slight breeze, just enough to to make Diego run out of the pool every ten minutes for his towel.

The boys have had their bikes for a couple of years now, but never really paid much attention to them until now. We had to buy Mario a new one though because his knees kept hitting the handle bars. So Diego got Mario's old one and Mario got a new one. And well, they couldn't have bikes without helmets and pads.
I think my heart stopped every time they would do this. After they would go up, they would put their feet straight out and glide back down. Almost every time Diego would fall over right as he was slowing down. They did pretty good steering backwards though.

This show was a little different. Indiana Bones told a story about Medusa that I'm sure creeped out some of the little kids. He did have a dragon puppet that was pretty funny, but the skull..............well, none of the kids wanted to get close to it.
Pictured with the boys' this time are friends of theirs. The girl that Mario has his arm around is Ali. She was in his class last year and actually they've known each other since they were 3. Ali's little sister is next to Diego, they are also the same age. I think the itty bitty girl is their cousin.
Even though his show was the exact same as last years, the boys still enjoyed it.
Every summer, once or twice a week, the Library has all kinds of fun programs for kids. For the first one The Super Silliest Band came and sang and danced around. There is actually three people in the band, but the other lady was off selling copies of their CD. As for the two little girls in the picture, I have no idea who they are or why the jumped in the shot. Oh, well.
I don't consider myself a girly girl, but when it comes to bags and purses, I'm as girly as it gets. :)So, with my new sewing machine and a book called Sew What! Bags, I've been making a new bag about every other day. I like using thicker material so the bag holds it shape better and the other day when we went to ALCO I found a bunch of upholstery fabric that works great.
Mario's class took a field trip to the local pool and since I didn't feel comfortable having him go with out my supervision (I could have gone but Diego would not have been aloud to swim. Not much fun watching your brother have fun), we called some of the boys' friends and had a water fight at the park!
Spray bottles work so much better than those cheap water guns. They hold more water, too!
A fellow paper carrier gave us this cute little guy after she got tired of him freaking out every time her husband came around. He's doing great with us!!

Every year the Parks and Rec Dept does Spring Fest at the Community Center. There's a petting zoo, face painting, singing, soccer registration, a car show, drive in movie, swim lesson sign ups, and a bunch a businesses set up booths and give out candy and info. We got there early enough that we were done before the rain started. It was a bit windy, but luckily none of the canopies took flight and smashed into us this year.
