A Very Busy Saturday

To end The Summer Reading Program at the Library, they had a picnic at Memory Park. The boys got 4 free books each, I won a cup from Studio 89 and we ate hot dogs, chips and drank soda provided by the Library.

There was also live entertainment! Before we were able to eat, everyone had to dance. Diego danced with Arianna Hoskins. After the park we went to the theater and saw UP. The boys really enjoyed it, but it was a bit sad. Then we went to Walmart and did some school shopping. Diego is going through a Spider Man thing right now so everything had to be Spider Man. Walmart didn't have any Spider Man back packs, but there were some smaller solid color ones for $5. The size is perfect for Diego and Kindergartners don't have much to put in them anyways. So, then I went on over to the fabrics and got 1/4 yard of some Spider Man fabric. Some fusible interfacing later and VOILA!! Diego has a one of a kind Spider Man Back Pack. I'm also going to put a pocket on the side for his water bottle.

I would say it was more like interpretive dance and it's a good thing it didn't last the whole hour because the kids lost interest after about ten minutes. They did have fun making masks after the show.

This year the Town of Chino Valley had a party in the park for the fourth. They tried to make up for the fact that they didn't have fire works. It wasn't much of a party, pretty boring actually. But at least they did something for the few people who did go. The boys rode around in a barrel train and jumped in a jumping castle. Mario is going through a John Deere faze and was very excited to see some. As we were leaving he noticed a mug and calender set sitting on a table where they were have different games and asked the Town guys what it was for. They said that it was a prize for one of the games but since he was such a big John Deere fan and sang the John Deere song for them, he could have it.

Boy With Bikes

The boys have had their bikes for a couple of years now, but never really paid much attention to them until now. We had to buy Mario a new one though because his knees kept hitting the handle bars. So Diego got Mario's old one and Mario got a new one. And well, they couldn't have bikes without helmets and pads. I think my heart stopped every time they would do this. After they would go up, they would put their feet straight out and glide back down. Almost every time Diego would fall over right as he was slowing down. They did pretty good steering backwards though.

Indiana Bones, Story Teller

This show was a little different. Indiana Bones told a story about Medusa that I'm sure creeped out some of the little kids. He did have a dragon puppet that was pretty funny, but the skull..............well, none of the kids wanted to get close to it.

Pictured with the boys' this time are friends of theirs. The girl that Mario has his arm around is Ali. She was in his class last year and actually they've known each other since they were 3. Ali's little sister is next to Diego, they are also the same age. I think the itty bitty girl is their cousin.

Summer Reading Program At The Library

Every summer, once or twice a week, the Library has all kinds of fun programs for kids. For the first one The Super Silliest Band came and sang and danced around. There is actually three people in the band, but the other lady was off selling copies of their CD. As for the two little girls in the picture, I have no idea who they are or why the jumped in the shot. Oh, well.

A Bag For Me

I don't consider myself a girly girl, but when it comes to bags and purses, I'm as girly as it gets. :)
So, with my new sewing machine and a book called Sew What! Bags, I've been making a new bag about every other day. I like using thicker material so the bag holds it shape better and the other day when we went to ALCO I found a bunch of upholstery fabric that works great.

Mario's class took a field trip to the local pool and since I didn't feel comfortable having him go with out my supervision (I could have gone but Diego would not have been aloud to swim. Not much fun watching your brother have fun), we called some of the boys' friends and had a water fight at the park!
Spray bottles work so much better than those cheap water guns. They hold more water, too!

Every year the Parks and Rec Dept does Spring Fest at the Community Center. There's a petting zoo, face painting, singing, soccer registration, a car show, drive in movie, swim lesson sign ups, and a bunch a businesses set up booths and give out candy and info. We got there early enough that we were done before the rain started. It was a bit windy, but luckily none of the canopies took flight and smashed into us this year.

With my nifty new sewing machine I made these bags for Chaiya's graduation gift. First I made the big one not realizing how big a bag the pattern was for, so then I made a smaller one. I found the swirly fabric in ALCO and automatically thought "Dr. Suess, Oh The Places You'll Go." Then I found the image of the little boy from the book online. Some transfer paper and a paint marker later, and the bags were finished!

There's a Summer Theater Program that we are planning on doing in July. The show will be in August at Watson Lake, the Elks will be closed for remodeling. I don't know what kind of a show it will be, but I'm sure it will be fun.

The egg spining thing I bought last year is an awsome investment!!! I think I paid $10 for it and it makes the coolest tie dye looking eggs!! The boys love it, too. So easy and so not messy!!! It's a lot more fun than just putting the eggs in the little bowls and waiting. Diego decided to wear his Easter basket. :) LOOK WHAT THE EASTER BUNNY LEFT!!!! AN EASTER BUNNY!!!! ......................but sooooo good!!! Carnitas. Mario working at a meat processing place definitely has it's advantages. Yesterday he brought home a big bag of pig fat of which I cut up, taking off all the meat that was still on it, and cooked it down for lard. Then in that lard, after I took out all the little crispy pieces of fat, I cooked the meat. Once the meat was completely cooked through I added about a can or two of Coke, directly to the lard with the meat. Cooked it until the meat was covered with a nice brown glaze. Oh, when I added the meat to the lard I also dumped in a bunch of garlic salt, cuz that's what I do with everything. Serve with warmed corn tortillas and enjoy. Yummy Yummy Yummy.

When I told the boys' I was going to have a tooth pulled Diego told me that I had to save it so that when his tooth came out we could put them under our pillows together. Our computer is VERY sick so Mike is taking a look at it for us. For now I have moved the boys' computer into the living room so we won't be without Internet cause ya know it's a life necessity!

I just realized that the word "necessity" is like the Spanish word necesito which means "I need".

THE BOYS ARE GOING TO BE OOMPA LOOMPAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Elks Theatre in down town Prescott is doing Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the boys are going to be in it!!!!! Look out Broadway!! They have rehearsal once a week for now and then next month it will be twice. An hour each time so it's not too overwhelming. The show will be in May and yes I will be video taping it. I'M SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!! More than them I think. ;)

It's Girl Scout cookie time again. The lady at my bank who was with some Girl Scouts selling cookies got a kick out of how I slammed on my brakes, rolled down my window and screeched like a little girl when I was them. I really couldn't control myself. I think they put something in those cookies to make people act like loonies whenever they see them.

I went clothes shopping yesterday. Something I do not like doing, but I was running kind of low in the wardrobe department. I actually found some pants I like! There were also some fun hippie-ish shirts that said things like "Hug a Tree" and "Save our Forest" but I just couldn't pull it off. Chy might be able to though!! One even had an owl on it!!

I fell down our stairs the other day. Well, Carrie was behind me so maybe she pushed me. :) It was a very graceful fall but still, 3 of my toes are not happy at all. And I pulled a leg muscle. It hurts.

I had a tooth pulled. It abscessed down on my jaw bone so it wasn't like I could drain it myself like my other abscessed tooth. Oh the joys of teeth problems.

Well, I think that's it.

Last week we discovered that our older not nearly as pretty van needs a new head gasket. Considering it would cost the same amount that we paid for it to fix it, we decided it was time to get something else. So after looking on line I found this. It's exactly what we have wanted for a while but haven't been able to get. The best part, the price!! The only bad thing, it was in Phx. BUT, because Carrie loves me, she took us. :) It's so nice having a vehicle now that can take us to places like Phx or Oatman or Sedona. It's been a long time since we have been able to go on little road trips and I'm already planning!!

One of the prizes Diego got for selling over $700 worth of stuff for his schools fundraiser was this AMAZING jumbo bubble machine. The bubbles are huge! The only bad thing about it is that a refill jug of the solution is about $40 and I don't think just any solution will work. Chy pointed out that it looks like a thicker solution and that's probably why the bubbles are able to get so big without popping.

Today the boys wrote their letters to Santa. I helped Mario with the "Dear Santa" part but the rest he sounded out and did by himself. I was very impressed. For Diego's I wrote out what he wanted on a different piece of paper and then he copied it. This week sometime we are going to mail them. The boys are very excited!

These are the two pups I am trying to sell so I can go do some Christmas shopping. I already sold their brother to a lady who works at Circle L Animal Clinic so I know he will be taken care of. She named him Oscar. Get it? They're weenie dogs.

Oh, and then we have Gizmo. I think she's trying to out do her brother on being lazy. Who, by the way, was missing for a while, but he came home and it's obvious he wasn't roughing it. Someone was feeding him, HE'S HUGE!! And his collar with tags is gone. Looks like I'm going to have to put a note on him the next time he goes out.

This year we had Thanksgiving at Tracie's again and boy was it silly! I made the turkey, brought dinner rolls (not home made), and made a pumpkin pie. I was a little nervous at first about the turkey, but it turned out great! I was so proud of myself. What was in the turkey no one will ever know!!! Mwaahaahaahaaa! The day was full of laughs, great food and butts!

This year we had the boys' birthday party at Freedom Station. It was tons of fun and the boys got lots of cool things.

October 31st

This year for Halloween Mario was a soldier and Diego was Captain Rex from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. First we went to the town Trunk or Treat Party and then we went out and did a little Trick or Treating. I was amazed at how nice the weather was. Last year we nearly froze.

Good thing we got to the Community Center early because the line behind us was soooo long. We only had to wait for about 10 minutes.

Every year the Florea family grows some pumpkins for the Head Start kids and the whole school takes a field trip there. They also make a hay bale maze and hide all kinds of goodies in it for the kids.

Well, soccer season is over and the boys are sad. It was a lot of fun this year having the boys on the same team. After the game they had a little award ceremony/ice cream party and each got a really cute trophy.

Mario had school pictures done today and after I did his hair all cute and got him dressed up Diego asked me if I could do his hair too and take pictures of him.

Tadpole Fishing!!

For the past couple evenings we've been going on walks with the boys.....well, actually running after the boys down the street while they ride their bikes, and we came across a puddle two houses down FULL of tadpoles!!! So, naturally we let them dive in and grab some. I really don't want to think about how many Diego smashed.
His feet just blend in with the mud.
You could see the tadpoles really well before the boys mixed up all the water.
Diego had a wedgie.
Almost got one!!!!

They're not really used to walking barefoot on the rocks.

Music!!

Oh how I LOVE music!! It drives Mario crazy how I've always got music going and it drives me crazy how the first thing he does when he walks in, is turn on the TV!! It's amazing how different the boys are too. Little Mario is more like his Daddy and Diego like me. The Marios are all about toys and TV and Diego and I prefer music and Art. Don't get me wrong, Diego and I do have our shows we like to watch and Diego really gets involved. He loves Jacks Big Music Show, Blues Clues and The Upside Down Show. I was going to post a video of Diego singing along with the Blues Clues song, but after waiting 4 hours for it to load I decided to just post the link. Anyways, after taking Mario to school, Diego and I had some fun with Grandmas stereo. :)

A Very Sad Day

Well, it all started yesterday when we went out to Mom and Dads' place in Paulden to get some stuff we are watching over until they come down to get it. As soon as the boys' jumped out of the van, Diego ran over to what used to be the pond to see the fish, but instead found it dried up and no fish. He then ran over to see the chickens but found the coop over grown with weeds. When we went inside all we found was an empty lonely house that we once knew to be a home, now all that is left are memories and spiders. The boys were very upset that the spiders were everywhere we went and Diego later informed me that we need to go back to kill all of those spiders that moved into Grandmas' house. On our way home little Mario was very quiet and when I asked him what was wrong he said in a broken voice "I'm worried about Grandma." So when we got home we called her so he could see that she is just fine.
But the day didn't end there. Later that evening when I went to clean Azuls' (Diegos' Parakeet) cage I noticed she didn't look to well and I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the green crayon I found inside. Even though her cage is up on top of the bookshelf where the boys' can't get to it, boys' will be boys', and the other day they were throwing the crayons up in the air and apparently one found it's way into the cage. So, we sat with her for about 20 minutes trying to get her to eat and drink, telling her she was strong, reminding her that she survived a broken leg and that she could survive this. But, unfortunately she didn't make it. She died quietly in Diegos' hands. As Diego held her lifeless little body, tears streaming down his face and mine, he looked up at me and asked if she was going to Heaven with Jesus. I told him yes and that she was going to be very happy there and that Jesus would take good care of her. But, Diego didn't want her to go, he wanted to keep her forever. When I told him that we couldn't keep her in her cage anymore and that he could pick a nice spot out in the yard to bury her, he didn't like that either. We ended up burying her between two trees out front. Even though we tried to explain a dozen times to Diego that her body will always be there and that her spirit went to Heaven it took him a while to understand. After we finished filling in her little grave Diego looked at me and said "Good, now Jesus can't find her and take her."

All Grown Up

Well, on Monday the 4th Mario started Kindergarten. He was such a trooper. As hard as it was, I did not cry.........in front of him. I could tell he was really nervous and if I started crying I'm pretty sure he would have too.

This is a shot of when we went and picked Mario up. He was so excited to tell us all about his day. All week he has been asking if he can ride the bus so we decided that when Diego starts Head Start Mario can ride the bus to school and I will pick him up after. We live literally like 2 minutes from the school so I'm not too worried about him riding the bus, and besides the first time he does, Daddy will wait for the bus with him and Diego and I will be at the school waiting to make sure he knows where to go when he gets off. This will help also because Mario has to be at school around 7:30 and Head Start doesn't start until 8:00. So instead of taking Mario up to the school and then coming home for 20 minutes and then taking Diego, I will just make one trip.

August 8th: Art. Yep, I painted that. I guess you can say that back in High School I was REALLY into Greenday, so this painting is of the lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong. All of my pieces were of Billie Joe that year. :)

Fun With Grandma

Although I have no pictures of her. She's really good at staying away from the camera. This is when we went to Granite Creek Park with Tracies' family and Carries' family.

On July 21st we took the boys to Freedom Station again and after went and took some pictures by the fountain. This is in Prescott Valley at the Town Center.

Arte y Pico Award

Okay, a while ago Tracie honored me with the Arte y Pico award. Thank you so much big sis!! It makes me feel good knowing that you like my blog and feel it deserves this. But, I have had the hardest time trying to think of five others to give this to. I'm not familiar with that many bloggers. Sad, I know. Granite Creek walk in the forest

After playing around we went on a little walk along the creek and the boys kept saying we were in the forest and that we had to be careful of bears. :) The above and below pictures are of Diego throwing away garbage he found on our walk and on the ground by the play equipment. The above bottle he found when we had just started our walk and told me to hold onto it because he wanted to throw it away. The one below he found as we were leaving. Isn't he a doll?!?!?!
